Medical Team from the Community Medicine Department of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti on Thursday, 17th of October, 2019 visited Erinjiyan Ekiti in Ekiti State to sensitize the community on the benefits attached to regular medical check-up.
Mrs. Alonge, a matron from the Department of Community Medicine, after her welcome address enlightened the attendees on the benefits of living a healthy life and undertaking routine check-up, when not necessarily sick especially when an affordable, qualitative and quantitative health care delivery is being brought to their doorsteps.
She educated the people on the benefits of diet related health needs and wellness efforts. She stressed the importance of including regular fruit intake in their daily meal plan, stating that fruits are rich in vitamins and they nourishes the body.
Similarly, she enlightened attendees on the leading causes to chronic health conditions such as High Blood Pressure (HBP), noting that early detection is the key, which can be achieved through routine medical check-ups, strict compliance to drug regiments coupled with practical healthy lifestyles; are ways in living a healthy life.
Activities carried out during the outreach programme were; Counselling, vital signs, consultations, and drugs dispensing.
Total number of 120 participants in the community accessed health care services while six (6) of them were respectively referred to Departments of Opthalmology, Orthopaedic, and ENT, of FETHI, Three (3) Community Health Physicians and other medical team were on ground for the check-up.
