FETHI GOVERNING BOARD VISITS GOVERNOR FAYEMI

The Governing Board of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI), led by the Board Chairman, Hon. Mohammed Abubakar Zukababa paid a courtesy visit to the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi in his office on Monday.

Speaking during the visit at the governor’s office today, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Adekunle Ajayi, who introduced the Board members, informed the Governor that the primary achievements of the Management are the maintenance of peace and regaining of the corporate reputation of the hospital.
In his address,  the Chairman of the Governing Board congratulated the Governor on his recent strings of victories in the court as well as his election as the Chairman, Nigeria Governor’s Forum. He also commended the Governor on the bold steps taken so far to make the State great, which he said had yielded the numerous verifiable achievements within this short time.
However, the Board Chairman sought the assistance and support of the Governor in providing a well equipped Ambulance and other operational vehicles that will assist the Hospital in its Community Outreach Programme and the construction of 1km access road leading from the Hospital premises to the School of Nursing
In his response, Gov. Kayode Fayemi, said he was happy to receive the Governing Board and the management team of the Teaching Hospital and praised the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi on his achievements since he assumed office last year. He urged the Governing Board to always consider the host communities of the Hospital during recruitments especially the Junior Cadres.
Speaking further, the Governor emphasised the importance of synergy between the various tiers of Government particularly those in the Health sector, stressing that there must be a synchronization of efforts and resources.
Dr. Fayemi admitted the availability of avalanche of consultants in the Federal Teaching Hospital in different fields and hope that there can be working agreement between the State and FETHI for their assistance in the delivery of health services to the grassroots through various health centres within the State. He cited the example of surgical breakthrough recently celebrated at ABUAD by expatriates medical personnel which should be a continuous exercise if there is a collaboration between the State Government, FETHI and ABUAD. There and then, the Governor directed the Commissioner of Health who was present at the event to set in motion machinery on how collaboration/synergy in the health sector can become a reality.
Dr Fayemi then appreciated the Governing Council and the management team for coming and assured them of his full support and cooperation as far as health is concerned in Ekiti State .
