The former Executive Secretary and CEO of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Prof. Femi Thomas led representative of a private medical firm named Tristate Foundation to Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI) earlier this week to evaluate available facilities and initiate talks on partnership with the hospital in terms of providing qualitative health care delivery with the aim of curbing medical tourism.
Tristate Foundation is renowned for provision of open heart and vascular surgery in the country. The Foundation is also in partnership with some Teaching Hospitals such as OAUTH Ile-ife and Babcock University.
Prof. Thomas, a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon of repute and former Commissioner for Health in Ekiti State had in his team a cardiac surgeon from India.
After deliberation with the CMD, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, the team was led round the hospital by the CMAC, Dr Idowu Adebara.
Acknowledging the latest development which had sprouted in the hospital, Prof. Thomas said “What I’m seeing here now was not here the last time I came. This is a great improvement.”
