The Management of Federal Teaching Hospital Ido-Ekiti (FETHI), in conjunction with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G) including consultants and the entire FETHI staff, organized a send forth ceremony for the immediate past Acting Chief Medical Director (Ag. CMD) of the institution, Dr. Raymond Okere, who had reached the statutory retirement age of 60. The event took place on Tuesday, 2nd September, 2020 at the ABUAD Auditorium within the hospital.
The CMD, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, in his opening remark commended the former Acting CMD for faithfully discharging his duties with honesty, integrity and quality service delivery over the years without blemish.
“This institution is unique today because we are all here gathered to celebrate a worthy member of staff who has contributed immensely to the development of FETHI. Also, when you are honouring our heroes, we are truly honouring ourselves.
“It is an opportunity to learn from the experiences and constraints of Dr.Raymond when he served the hospital. Be that as it may, we would have loved all members of staff to be present but as a responsible organization, we have to work in accordance with the existing COVID-19 protocols.
“On behalf of the entire staff of FETHI, I usher the celebrant into retirement with good health and riches,” the CMD stated.
The Assistant Director of Administration (Human Resources) Mrs. Folusho Adelegan read the the citation of the retiree and wished him peaceful and happy retirement years ahead.
Speaking at the send-off ceremony, Dr. Raymond Okere first and foremost expressed all Glory to God for retiring hale and hearty. The retiree highlighted a number of his accomplishments amongst many during his years of active service, adding that he was able to restore peace to the hospital in crises that engulfed the institution, introduced morning reviews for resident doctors and put smiles on the faces of many in the institution.
He advised those still in active service to emulate dedication, commitment and cooperation amongst themselves to ensure that they also retire gallantly after a successful career with their integrity intact.
Dr.Adeniyi, Head of the Department O&G described the retiree as a father to all, a man of integrity, tolerance and experience, one who is very humble and a meticulous surgeon. Moreso, the HOD appreciated the labour the past acting CMD had put in the department since inception which has yielded positive fruits today.
Receiving goodwill messages from the Head of Information and Corporate Affairs Department and Chairman of the Senior Staff Association, Mr. Bank Akinnoye and Mr. Adetula respectively, mentioned that his administration was committed to improving the requisite skills, knowledge and welfare of her workforce.
Gifts were presented to the celebrant by the management team and the O&G department. Similarly, the wife of the retiree Mrs. Olukemi Okere on behalf of her family, expressed profound gratitude to God for granting them the privilege to witness this day and prayed for greater celebration for all.
