The Ogunruku family of Ido-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State, has built and equipped a 6-bedroom apartment in honour of her illustrious son, Ifelola Otitowa Aina-Ogunruku at Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI).
The deceased was said to have died 10 years ago while in active service of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja.
Welcoming the family, royal fathers, dignitaries and other invited guests to the hospital on behalf of the Board and Management, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi acquainted the gathering with the historical transformations of the institution.
He lauded the Ogunruku family to have looked in the direction of the needs of the hospital as logically highlighted during the hospital’s maiden stakeholders forum in 2021.
He further noted that the hospital had since been receiving positive responses from corporate bodies and individuals who had been considered as critical stakeholders in moving the hospital to the enviable height.
The spokesman of the family and former Registrar of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Mr Ayorinde Ogunruku, said the structure was put in place from the death benefit paid by the commission and to provide shelter for patient relatives in the hospital. He added that the family unanimously agreed to immortalize Otitowa who died as a bachelor.
Mr Babatunde Ayodele who represented the EFCC Chairman at the occasion, opined that the Ogunruku family had demonstrated exactly what the anti graft warrior stood for while in active service.
He charged the gathering to always fight corruption which he described as a monster and virus which had eaten deep into the system and holding the expected national development and growth in abeyance from time immemorial.
Committing the entire family into the protective hands of God, the Venerable of St. John’s Anglican Church, Ido-Ekiti, Ven. Joshua Olu-Ajayi charged the gathering to be courageous and hopeful; as he assured that light often comes after every darkness in life.
Commissioning the project, the Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, Oba (Capt) Ayorinde Ilori Faboro with moral support of his friend, Oba Olatuyi Olatunde, the Onimesi of Imesi-Ekiti, appreciated the family for contributing her quota to the development of the hospital.
The Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Dr Olagoke Erinomo, while giving the vote of thanks, noted that the family had not only supported the developmental goals of the hospital but had made provision for mankind irrespective of tribes, religions or status.
Dignitaries present at the occasion were members of Olojudo in Council, the enlarged Ogunruku family and relatives and officers of the EFCC.
The Director of Admin, Chief B.O. Ogunrinde, erstwhile CMAC, Dr Idowu Adebara, Deputy Director of Admin (HR), Mrs Folusho Adelegan, Deputy Director of Admin (GA), Mr Abayomi Adeakin, Head of Finance and Accounts, Mrs Olayemi Olayisade, Head of Audit, Mrs Yinka Adewara, Head of Information/Corporate Affairs Department, Mr Bank-Akinnuoye and host of other top and senior management committee members and union leaders were also present.
