Ahead of the Christmas Celebration, the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Ido-Ekiti Unit Command, in conjunction with Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, has called on motorists to apply caution in the use of their vehicles.
The Assistant Corps Commander, Mr. Hakeem O. Abejide, during his welcome address, having stated the theme for the 2022 flag-off of Ember months campaign, ‘ AVOID SPEEDING, OVERLOADING, AND UNSAFE TYRES TO ARRIVE ALIVE ‘ in Otun-Ekiti, said the campaign was aimed at reducing fatalities, as the period was normally characterized with increased vehicular movement.
He urged motorists and the general public, to do away with harmful road practices, drive at minimal speed, avoid
wrongful overtaking and respect other road users, during and after the yuletide season.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, represented by Mr. Bank-Akinnuoye (the Head of Department, Information & Corporate Affairs) FETHI, while giving his remarks, acknowledged the efforts of the FRSC, Ekiti State Sector for ensuring the safety of lives on the roads.
‘Ember months are not different from other months’, he stated.
He further appealed to motorists to pay caution to preventive measures; by ensuring good condition of their vehicles, display consideration to other motorists and collaborate with other stakeholders in the field.
Thereafter, at the event was the inauguration of two(2) operational vehicles to enhance overall patrol operations in improving coverage and monitoring, to further reduce road crash fatality.
