The new leadership of Ekiti State chapter of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), ably led by the Chairman, Dr Babatunde Rosiji, Wednesday paid a thank you visit to the Chief Medical Director of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI), Prof. Adekunle Ajayi.
Acquainting the CMD with the purpose of the visit, Dr Rosiji acknowledged what he described as the sweat of the CMD to make power supply available in the hospital and applauded the management for supporting NMA in the state, adding that the efforts of the management in providing a conducive House Officers Quarters and Doctors Call Rooms cannot but be appreciated.
He described Prof. Ajayi as a man of class and taste who often places priority on quality and efficiency. He, however, appealed to the management to make more accommodation available for the House Officers.
In his response, the CMD extended open arms welcome to the visitors and congratulated them on behalf of the Board and Management of the hospital. He charged them that uneasy lies the head that wears a crown, that the responsibilities ahead of them are enormous.
“Those you see today as your friends are not really your friends but the friends of the crown you are wearing as a leader. So in whatever you are doing today, be mindful of the day another person will be wearing the crown and you will be deserted as a lone ranger,” the CMD charged.
He expressed gratitude to the NMA commendation on the existing call rooms and promised improvement on others.
He said, “It is good to advocate but there is a need for us to also extend advocacy to ourselves as Doctors for service improvement in terms of our loyalty to the system and responsibilities.” He prayed God to grant the newly elected state officers the wisdom needed to pilot the affairs of the Association.
The Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr Olagoke Erinomo who gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the management, thanked the NMA for the visit and promised that the management will continue to do her best and the expected for the Association at the appropriate time, as he wished the Exco a successful administration.
Earlier, the new Executive Members of the NMA and leadership of her affiliate bodies were introduced to the management of the hospital by the Assistant General Secretary, Dr Ola Adaramola.
The immediate past Chairman of the Association and Physician-in-Charge of Igogo Annex Clinic of the hospital, Dr Ebenezer Ariyibi was also present.
Principal officers of the hospital who received the visitors with the CMD were the Deputy Director of Admin (HR), Mrs Folusho Adelegan, Assistant Director, Information/Corporate Affairs Department, Mr Bank-Akinnuoye, Head of Internal Audit, Mrs Grace Olajide, Head of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) department, Dr Taiwo Omolayo.
