Orthopaedics and Trauma

Mission & Vision

The department came into being in November, 2006. It is a critical clinical part of the hospital, rendering emergency and elective care for trauma and Orthopaedic patients in and outside Ekiti State. It is also in conjunction with Surgery Department involved in the training of Resident Doctors for Part 1 post graduate examination of both the National and West Africa Post graduate medical colleges and training of Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti Medical students. Also students from School of Health Technology (Ijero Ekiti, Offa and Ilorin) do their eight to twelve weeks industrial attachment in the department.


The department has four (4) full time consultants, one (1) senior registrar, thirteen (13) plaster technicians, ten (10) Nurses and other support staffs


BED  STATE  :   Male Orthopaedic ward               25 beds


                   Female Surgical ward                  12 beds


                   Children ward                              12 beds


                   Bed occupancy                            80%


 


WEEKLY ACTIVITIES:


Monday       -         Firm A: Senior Registrar‘s ward round          8 am – 2 pm


         Firm B:  Elective theatre section                    8 am – 4 pm


          Tuesday       -         Consultant ward round (Firm A & B)            10 am – 2 pm


Wednesdays -         Registrar’s ward round (Firm A)                    10 am – 12noon


                     Preoperative ward round (Firm A)                 4 pm – 5 pm


Thursdays    -         Orthopaedic and Trauma outpatient

            Friday            -           Orthopaedic and Trauma outpatient

IN-PATIENT CARE


The in-patient care is offered in the Accident and Emergency, male and female wards, male Orthopaedic ward and other areas where referrals might be given to us.


 


OUT-PATIENT CARE


This is rendered in the surgical outpatient department (SOPD) Here, non-emergency cases are seen: Also post operative follow up cases are attended to. All elective cases are also attended to where they are admitted or seen on outpatient basis.
