FUOYE Concludes Second COBLES Programme @ FETHI Igogo-Ekiti Annex
The second edition of the Community-Based Learning and Service (COBLES) Programme for 200-level medical students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has been successfully concluded at the Igogo-Ekiti Annex of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI).
The month-long programme, which provided the students with intensive community-based clinical learning and service experiences, came to an end yesterday at the Igogo-Ekiti Annex.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Babatunde Afolabi, expressed appreciation to the management of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, for providing a conducive environment for the successful implementation of the programme.
He also commended the lecturers and academic team for their commitment to the students' training, particularly the Programme Coordinator and Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Prof. Kabir Durowade, for providing academic leadership throughout the programme.
The 66 participating students, through their representatives, presented a summary of the clinical and community-based learning activities as well as the various services undertaken during the programme. They also expressed their appreciation to both FUOYE and FETHI for providing an enabling environment that facilitated meaningful learning and practical experience.
In his message to the occasion, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, Prof. Kolawole O. Ogundipe, called for stronger and sustained collaboration between the two institutions.
The CMD's message, delivered by the Physician-in-Charge of the Igogo-Ekiti Annex, Dr. Kayode Ariyibi, emphasised the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing the core mandates of the Hospital, particularly in the areas of service delivery, research and training.
Prof. Ogundipe further noted that sustained institutional collaboration would create greater opportunities for knowledge exchange, practical training and improved healthcare services for the benefit of the communities served by both institutions.
The successful completion of the second edition of the COBLES programme further underscores the growing partnership between FUOYE and FETHI in strengthening medical education, community-based learning and healthcare service delivery.
