2026 World Physiotherapy Day Celebration

On every September 8th, we celebrate World Physiotherapy Day, a day dedicated to recognising the vital contribution of physiotherapy to the health, wellbeing, functional independence, and quality of life of individuals and communities.

This year, the theme is “The Role of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity in the Prevention, Management and Rehabilitation of Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke.” This theme is particularly relevant as cardiovascular disease and stroke continue to place a significant burden on individuals, families, and the healthcare system.

At Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, we recognise physiotherapy as an important component of comprehensive healthcare.

Physiotherapists contribute not only to the rehabilitation of patients following stroke and cardiovascular conditions, but also to prevention through physical activity, exercise, health education, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.

On this occasion, the Hospital encourages our staff, patients, families, and the general public to embrace regular physical activity and make healthy movement part of their daily lives.

For individuals affected by stroke or cardiovascular disease, early access to appropriate rehabilitation can improve functional recovery, independence, and quality of life.

As we commemorate World Physiotherapy Day 2026, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti reaffirms its commitment to patient-centred, multidisciplinary care and to promoting rehabilitation as an essential part of healthcare.

We encourage everyone: stay active, move regularly, prevent where possible, and seek appropriate rehabilitation when needed. Happy World Physiotherapy Day 2026. Thank you.
