‘YOU’RE A GIFT TO EKITI STATE,’ GOV. FAYEMI LAUDS FETHI CMD •••AWARD IS A GOLDEN HANDCUFF, SAYS CMD

Ekiti State Governor, His Excellency, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has venerated the Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI), Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, describing the Angiology World Champion as a special breed and a gift to the state.
The governor, who was the special guest of honour at the 9th Annual Forum Public Lecture of the Forum of Heads of Federal Establishments in Ekiti State on Thursday at The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, was ably represented by the General Manager, Ekiti State Housing Corporation, Mr Olaoye Williams.
“Medical feat of a professor is legendary and a symbol of excellence. To publish well over 50 medical journals in both local and international journals is also legendary. This award is present to you as somebody worthy of excellence in service to humanity. You are a gift to Ekiti State,” he extolled Prof. Ajayi with refulgence.
The CMD, while giving his acceptance speech on behalf of all the Awardees, took the participants on a 20-year memory lane as he narrated his experience while seeking House Job in the office of the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Remi Olowoloba, who was then the Chairman, Ekiti State Hospital Management Board in 1999. Prof. Ajayi thanked the retired but active old man for his forthrightness and truthfulness in all ways.
Appreciating the leadership of the forum for counting them worthy of the honour, Prof. Ajayi dissected award to be a “golden handcuff” which was expected to spur every recipient to do greater things to the benefit of humanity.
“On behalf of others, I express our gratitude. Like I said earlier, you have put in our hands ‘golden handcuffs’ that got us sentenced to a life of more and improved commitment to the good of humanity and I promise that we will never disappoint you,” he assured.
Other awarded dignitaries included, Arch. Ahmed Musa-Dangiwa, Chief Remi Olowoloba, Mr Gilbert Igweka, Late Olufemi Adejumo and Chief Omojola Martins.
Followed the CMD to the occasion to receive the Award of Excellence for his admirable leadership and managerial qualities were Assistant Director of Administration (Human Resources), Mrs Foluso-Adelegan, Assistant Director of Information, Mr Bank-Akinnuoye and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer (CMD’s Office), Mr ‘Yomi Fayigbe among others.
