Schl of Nursing, FETHI conducts CBT exam for over 900 candidates •CMD, Principal lament low computer literacy

Computer Based Test (CBT) entrance examination into the School of Nursing, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI), that was earlier postponed twice due to COVID-19 pandemic and EndSARS protests, finally took place on Wednesday, 11th November, 2020 at College of Health Sciences and Technology (COHEST), Ijero-Ekiti.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, who was on ground with his entourage to monitor the process, thanked the management of COHEST for their collaborative efforts and charged the candidates to shun all forms of examination malpractices.

He later expressed worry over the observed low computer literacy of some candidates who sat for the examination.

“It is unfortunate that some students are not computer literate. These days, people write exams in the comfort of their homes on computers. Parents and schools should encourage students to be computer literate. It is now very important,” the CMD advised.

The School of Nursing Principal, Mrs Adeniji Oluwabunmi, described the CBT process as 21st century compliance and less stressful but also lamented low computer literacy.

She said it may be included in future adverts that applicants must be computer literate.

In her words, “About 85 candidates were unable to submit their answers because they are not vast in operating computer. It also happens in JAMB examination with no remedy. Successful candidates will be invited soon for interview.”
