Community Medicine and Pharmacy Departments of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti on Monday and Tuesday, 24th & 25th May, 2021 took healthcare services to Otunja and Usin communities in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Mrs. Adeniyi; a Public Health Nurse sensitized the people on the threatening effects of High Blood Pressure commonly known as Hypertension. She stated that High B.P is a primary risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
She emphasized on importance of eating a healthy diet with less salt intake, regular exercises, maintaining a healthy weight, and managing stress.
In her conclusion, she enjoined the participants to get regular blood pressure checks from the health care provider and practice standard hygiene always.
Activities carried out on the medical outreach were ; counselling, vital signs check, consultations with the Doctor, and dispensing of drugs.
In attendance were 112 people with 3 referrals to Opthalmology Department and general surgery of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti.
Two Community Health Physicians; Dr. Abioye and Dr. Olasehinde led other medical team to the venues of the outreach programme.
Covid-19 protocols were duly observed during the program.
