A Nigeria based non-governmental organisation, Adesola Mental Health Foundation (AMHF), Wednesday made a cash donation to Alaanu Foundation of Federal Teaching Hospital Ido Ekiti (FETHI).
While welcoming the team at the CMD’s office, the Head of Legal Services of the Hospital and Secretary to the Alaanu Foundation, Barr. Oluwaseun Ojo-Ajayi, applauded the kind gesture of the donor which she described as a sensitive one to the plight of indigent patients in the hospital.
She explained that the Alaanu Foundation is one of the numerous achievements of the present administration in the hospital in ensuring that the poor have access to quality health care.
The visioneer of the foundation, Adedapo Adesola, who was represented by the team coordinator, Mr Damilola Arogundade pointed out that the cash is donated basically to address the healthcare needs of indigent psychiatric patients in the hospital.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi commended the visioneer of the foundation for having the heart to give to the indigents, particularly the psychiatric patients.
He maintained that the cash will be used to address the healthcare needs of indigent psychiatric patients as intended by the donor.
He added that donations raised from spirited individuals and volunteers are used majorly to clear the bills of the poor patients who often have difficulty in paying their hospital bills.
He estimated that over 20million naira was recently written off as uncleared bills incurred by patients who could not afford to pay their hospital bills.
Receiving the cheque with the CMD were the Chairman of Alaanu Foundation, Dr. Onyema, Director of Administration, High Ch. B.O Ogunrinde, Deputy Director of Admin (HR) Mrs Foluso Adelegan, Head of Information/Corporate Affairs, Mr Bank-Akinuoye, Head of Internal Audit, Mrs Funke Adewara among others.
