The Governing Board of Federal Teaching Hospital Ido – Ekiti which was recently reconstituted and inaugurated by the Honorable Minister of Health on Tuesday 6^th of March, 2018, had their inaugural meeting in the Hospital between Monday 19^th – 21^st Wednesday, 2018.

On the first day of their inaugural meeting which held on 19^th Monday 2018, there was a courtesy call on the Olojudo of Ido – Ekiti, Oba(Captain) Ilori Ayorinde Faboro(Rtd) led by the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Ebenezer Adekunle Ajayi. The Royal King congratulated the board members on their appointments and urged them to see it as an opportunity to contribute to the development of the hospital. He appealed to them to work hand in hand with the present management in other to take the hospital to an enviable height. In his response, the Chairman of the Board, Abubakar Zukababa thanked the Royal father for the warm reception accorded them and pledge to work along with his members, for the progress of the Hospital.

The second day of the inaugural meeting of the board witnessed a courtesy visit to the fastest growing private university in Africa, Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti. During his welcome remark, he congratulated the newly constituted Board on their appointment and urged them to shun nepotism and be fair in the discharge of their duty. He reiterated his stand to continue with the partnership (MOU) that has yielded positive results since its inception between the hospital and the university.

In his response, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Ebenezer Adekunle Ajayi, thanked the founder of the Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Aare Bamofin of Yoruba, Afe Babalola for the warmth reception accorded them and praised him for his vision, which has become a reality through his doggedness and astute leadership in managing human and non-human resources at his disposal. He enjoined all stakeholders in the health sector especially those from the fountain of Knowledge to invest in the sector as a virile human capital is healthy nation.

The courtesy visit train of the Governing Board of the hospital eventually berthed at the office of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, in his welcome speech, he charged the Board to get set to work despite their differences in political affiliations since they represent public interest and must make sure that the yearnings and aspirations of the people are met in respect of health delivery services in the State.

The Chairman of the of the Board, Hon Abubaka Zukababa thanked the Governor for the warm reception and for his timely intervention during the crisis that engulfed the hospital sometimes ago and his fatherly role in nipping the crisis in the bud. “With this, you have saved the institution and the Federal Government unimaginable losses” remarked the Chairman of the board.

The Chief Medical Director, Dr. Ebenezer Adekunle Ajayi in his own remark, thanked his Excellency for the warmth reception and pledge to cooperate with the stake holders in the health sector in other to realize the objectives of the 2 tiers of government.
