FETHI ENDS 5-DAY WORKSHOP FOR HOSPITAL SECRETARIES

The five (5) days workshop organised by the Management of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI) in collaboration with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) unit ended on Thursday 23rd, 2019 with lectures on “Computer System and Maintenance” and “The Use of Internet” delivered by Mr. Adebayo Peter and Mr. Desmond O. respectively.

Participants at the workshop embodies all Secretaries in various departments/units in the hospital.

According to Mr. Adebayo, a healthy computer makes your work easy and fast. “For your Computer System to work longer and efficiently; doing backups, cleaning dust from the PC and cabling, using antivirus and running spyware scans frequently, cleaning up the software, updating the operating system, checking the updates for software and hardware, arranging your files on the computer correctly and not overloading memories are simple tips to keep your work station safe,” he explained.

Buttressing what Mr. Adebayo had pointed out, Mr. Isijola Toyin strongly discouraged the use of water and metelated spirit in cleaning a computer system. He also advised against eating a meal while working on a system so as to avoid spillage of oil.

Mr. Desmond, the second presenter said internet is a NETwork of computers all over the world. INTER connected to each other and available to any individual.

He also noted the difference between internet and intranet is that Internet is a worldwide/global system of interconnected computer networks. It uses the standard Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). While intranet is an inter connected network in a company or an organisation.

However, Mr. Femi Aluko, Head of ICT unit appreciated the management for the initiative of the training and expressed hope for more of such seminar in the future.

After the presentation of certificates on Friday, secretaries at the seminar showed gratitude to the management under the able leadership of Prof. Adekunle Ajayi to have come up with such a timely and career-lifting workshop which would enhance their performance at the discharge of their duties.
