The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ebenezer Adekunle Ajayi, on Tuesday, 10th May, 2022, delivered the keynote address, at the launch of the Maiden Edition of College of Medicine and Health Sciences Research Day, at the Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), with an audience comprising Academias, College Students, Doctors, Nurses and Delegates from FETHI.
In his keynote remarks, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, while stating the theme of his keynote address, “Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Development”, said the commencement of the MBBS flagship programme, was a defining moment for the College of Medicine, requiring strategic partnership to bequeath a flourishing medical educational outfit to Nigeria.
He emphasized on trust, open communication, effective coordination and interest based approach to conflict resolution as ways to make strategic partnership work.
“For strategic partnership to succeed, it must be a win-win for both sides; relevant stakeholders must align, there should be value match, complementary skill sets should be present on both sides and communications must be open and clear”, he quoted.
While harping on revamping our approach to clinical research in order to make it relevant to population needs, he recommended implementation research as a way to ensure translation and dissemination of research discoveries to evoke change in clinical practice.
He thanked the organizers of the event, for the honour bestowed on him to present the keynote address at such a unique event, even as he expressed hope that going forward, it is possible to have rancor-proof strategic partnerships, capable of engendering sustainable quality research outputs that will continue to make the College and indeed, the University primus inter pares in Nigeria; and accelerate the promotion of ABUAD to an Ivy League Category.
