The management of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI) under the leadership of the new Chief Medical Director, Dr Adekunle Ajayi, had on Thursday took delivery of three units of newly procured motorised birthing beds to provide necessary comfort needed by pregnant women in the labour ward.
The electrical self adjusted delivery couches, which were installed immediately in the newly reconstructed labour ward of the hospital, replaced the long aged manual couches which had been in use for decades.
Inspecting the birthing beds after the installation, the CMD expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Hospital Board, Alhaji Abubakar Sukababa and the members for their supports, adding that their decisions have added values and quality to the hospital’s healthcare service delivery within the last few months of their inauguration.
Dr Ajayi also commended his management team for holding their strong beliefs in the new leadership of the hospital. He said what the hospital has been able to achieve with the cooperation and understanding of the management team and the entire members of staff within the last one year are too pellucid to be ignored.
The world champion in Angiology lauded the level of combined efforts put in place by the leadership of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department, most especially the labour ward nurses in ensuring the system never collapsed before now.
He urged the nurses who are the end users to put the new electrical delivery beds into good use and ensure proper handling and maintenance, so that the purpose of going digital as a world-class teaching hospital would not be defeated with negligence.
Pregnant women and potential mothers across Ekiti State and beyond were therefore enjoined to increase their patronage and consider putting to bed under a comfy atmosphere as better experienced than imagined.
“Delivering a healthy baby to a healthy mother under a comfortable atmospheric condition with dignity and respect to one another is our utmost goal and desire,” the CMD assured, as he promised further improvements of services across boards.
