There was what can best be described as the triumphant appearance of a renowned genius and a cosmopolitan scholar in Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI) on Wednesday, as Ekiti-based international citadel of advanced learning and a leading World-class University in Africa, Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), confirmed the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Adekunle Ajayi as a Professor of Medicine in Cardiology.
Professor Ajayi, who was overwhelmingly received by his anxiously waiting members of staff in the hospital, returned all glory, honour and adoration to God Almighty for what he described as a special grace enjoyed to attain the present academic height.
He said God has always been so faithful to those who strongly hold their beliefs in Him and the efficacy of His words, adding that as a secondary school boy, his classmates nicknamed him a “Professor” and that that faithful God has now made it a reality at His own appointed time.
“There is nothing that we can get except it has been given to us from God. Every other thing that we get that is not from God is a burden. Only what we get from God is a blessing. I pray God will not allow us to acquire burden in Jesus name,” he prayed.
Taking the well-wishers on a memory lane, the brand new University Pedagogue narrated, “It was my desire to be a Medical Doctor in Primary School. My classmates nicknamed me “Professor” in secondary school, it wasn’t my desire. But I desired to become a Chief Medical Director when I was in Medical School, and God has acceded to all today.
“He will grant unto us His grace for blessings in the name of Jesus. As many who are celebrating with us, God will grant you everlasting happiness in Jesus mighty name. In as much your dreams live on within you, your desires shall come to pass. As many who desire good things, God shall grant them unto you.”
Acknowledging the faithfulness of God in praises and congratulating the genius earlier, the esteemed members of staff prayed for more divine wisdom, knowledge and understanding for the CMD to pilot the affairs of the institution, wishing that the newly added academic feathers shall be for the glory of God and that of the hospital.

Medical Advisory Committee, Dr Idowu Adebara of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Associate), Dr Shabi of Community Medicine (Associate) and Dr Durowade of Community Medicine (Associate).
